In an etheral, high ceilinged room, women stand waiting. They have arrived in Purgatory. Two young newcomers to the scene watch the last few days of their lives on a TV screen... The aging yet beautiful diva of a Broadway play (LORRAINE BRACCO) arrives at the theatre only to discover that she must get dressed in the ladies room along her co-star Julia (MOLLY PARKER), an ambitious young actress hoping to replace the older star as the public's and her husband's darling... At the same time, a very pregnant Lucia (GRETA SACCHI) squares off with her cheating husband's mistress, Lauren (VERONICA FERRES) who unexpectedly meet up at the opera. After sharing the lies told to them by the unfaithful man (JOHN MALKOVICH), the women find sympathy for one another. These stories give us a glimpse into the secret soul of femininity, the inner sanctum of the last place where they may bare their hearts, souls and personal stores - the Ladies Room.
