Third grader Miho Shinohara has the magical power to transform into Fancy Lala, a lovely 15-year-old version of herself. Miho tries to deal with ordinary third-grade problems, including school work and the budding affection of Taro, her classmate and next-door neighbor. Fancy Lala has a glamorous career as a fashion model. She's attracting more attention and emerging as a rival to the snooty star Miki Yumeno; her print work leads to a chance to cut a CD for heartthrob and pop star Hiroya Aikawa. Keeping her second life hidden from her friends and family poses problems that she's barely able to solve with the help of the diminutive dinosaur-fairies, Pigu and Mogu. Little girls--the obvious target audience--will enjoy this 1998 TV series; their mothers may find it reminds them of the old Barbie comic books.
