The history of ASSIGNMENT dates back to 1995. Back then, a young band hailing from the Gütersloh area in Germany started playing sophisticated and melodic death metal, and recorded first demos. After the release of the first two albums - Progressive Changes (2004) and Disunion Denied (2008) - the band played various live gigs and shared the stage with bands like Orden Ogan, Poverty's No Crime or Everlast. One of the highlights in the band's history is the release of the third album Inside Of The Machine in 2013 (Mausoleum Records). First-class vocalists like Mats Levén (Candlemass, Krux, ex-Therion), Michael Bormann (Silent Force, ex-Jaded Heart, ex-Bonfire) or Robin Beck were guest musicians on this concept album. A few open spots in the line-up were filled again in 2015 with the addition of vocalist Diego Valdez (Helker) and bassist Heiko Spaarmann (Poverty's No Crime), and the band started recording the new album Closing The Circle. This is the most sophisticated album of the band so far. Staying true to the band's mantra metal without borders, ASSIGNMENT presents a multifaceted metal genre mix with a focus on the song itself. Compared to previous albums, Closing The Circle is more riff-oriented with epic melodies and huge choruses. Diego Valdez's powerful voice - often compared to the voice of the late Ronnie James Dio - adds a touch of classic metal to the total package. On the album, the band continues the tradition to include a female vocalist as well. Maria José Pot steps in Robin Beck's shoes and delivers an emotional duet with her fellow countryman Diego Valdez. The Argentinean guitarist Ivan Iñiguez contributes various guitar soli as well. Norbert Leitner took care of the mix in Vienna, Austria, and Mike Wulf mastered the album. ASSIGNMENT signed with the renowned German metal label Massacre Records. Having found a new home, the future looks bright for the German progressive power metal outfit ASSIGNMENT!
