Evans' brigade has been ambushed and massacred, and the angry colonel turns renegade as a result and declares his own war. His plans become confused when he meets the seductive Caroline (Maria Ortiz), a beautiful Southern lady with her own beliefs of how the war should end. Witnessing the atrocities committed by both factions, they cling together to try to come to terms with their mixed feelings about the overall tragedy of war.
