World Citizen [Audio CD] Yeshe

Having lived in over twenty countries and since his teens, Yeshe considers the world to be his home. At an early age, Yeshe discovered he had a special affinity for African music. He performed with several percussion ensembles and later played in funk, reggae and blues bands. The star of World CitiZen, Yeshe's solo recording début, is the Mbira - a traditional African percussion instrument. Accompanied by lap steel, banjo, Hammond and backing vocals, Yeshe's songs range from the gentle to the spirited, fusing complex percussive structure with layerings of melody and lyrics, from overtly African to anywhere in the world. The album's centerpiece is Yeshe's critically acclaimed cover of the Bob Marley classic ''No woman, No Cry.''
