Sunflower is the moving story of the Zhang family - father, mother and son - across three decades in a rapidly changing Beijing. The son's name means "Facing the Sun"; a name his father gave him because of the sunflowers growing outside their home. Centered on the tensions and misunderstandings between the father and son, the film is told in three parts:1976, 1987 and 1999.
