Presented with heavyweight names like Plácido Domingo, lyricist Tim Rice, pianist Jeffrey Biegel and even Mick Hucknall, this has to seem a sure-fire golden treasure. In fact, it can't hope to match the sum of its parts simply because there's too much for one album. The chops and changes in style are extremely off-putting. Domingo's title song performance--in English to start with, and Italian at the end--is naturally superb. But to then launch into Schifrin's enormous "Piano Concerto Number 2" is too heavy a jump. Biegel plays the piece with technical aplomb but at times the feel is of someone practising their scales. Follow this with a Simply Red tune ("We're In This Together"), snatches of jazz, and further solo piano noodling, and you can't help but wonder what's meant to be holding it all together. With previous Schifrin scores like Che! or Rush Hour you know where you are to begin with. --Paul Tonks
