Judging by the volume of chill-out albums hitting record shop shelves each week, the 21st century world of work must be causing more stress than ever before. Solar Spectrums Vol.2, the second to be compiled by ex-Mixmag auteur and remixer about town Chris Coco, jostles for your attention in expanding upon its predecessor's surprisingly eclectic range. The ubiquitous Bonobo and Blue States are here of course but this is a pair of CDs that make a sustained effort to be different. He reaches back into the vaults to draw out classic Weatherall moments in the form of "Smokebelch" and his take of Saint Etienne's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart", while avoiding original material from Zero 7 in favour of highlighting their glorious mixes of Lambchop and Radiohead. With a computer mix ensuring a glitch-free journey, this is another slick episode in what is proving to be a promising series, blending the best of a genre which in Coco's own words "doesn't have to be fish music and whale noise". --Kingsley Marshall
