Eric Le Lann and Martial Solal know each other from a long time ago. Indeed Eric recorded his best album in 1990 based on arrangements by Martial, and one could say that they have always avoided known paths. They both have elegance and fluency to give, that is why they just ignore simplicity. At this stage who would have guessed that the pianist would turn out to be a virtuoso of wrong-footing and the element of surprise?
