This comedy-adventure adds mecha elements when three experts from the Western AEGIS centers arrive in Japan. These adults criticize Shun's team of young psychic warriors, insisting they need further training. But when their high-tech Gate Robots fail to stop Invader leaders Baron Akuma and Kaiser Kikai, it's Shun and Ruriko to the rescue. A key player in the conflict is the mysterious Yukino, whose enormous psychic powers are becoming evident. If the Baron and Kaiser are temporarily defeated, the even more sinister Shadow/Leiji, the human evil Gate Keeper, continues to plot his attack against the AEGIS team. Romantic complications develop as Kaoru pursues Shun; whenever Ruriko resolves to confess her feelings for Shun, she invariably surprises him in his underwear. These episodes offer a more satisfying balance of comedy and sci-fi warfare than the previous two discs. Rated 13 Up: Violence, mild profanity, occasional risqué humor. --Charles Solomon
